Dark Chapel, fronted by guitarist, vocalist, and producer Dario Lorina (Black Label Society), blends precise guitar work, sludgy grooves, and melodic hooks with bluesy touches and grunge allure. Their 2024 debut LP, *Spirit in the Glass* (MNRK Heavy), balances heavy, ethereal, and passionate elements.
Dario's musical roots run deep, shaped by his family’s love for music and early influences like Van Halen and Metallica. By six, he began guitar lessons and was jamming with his father. At 16, he hit the road with Jani Lane (ex-Warrant) and later joined Lizzy Borden. In 2014, he became part of Black Label Society, shredding alongside Zakk Wylde on *Doom Crew Inc.* and appearing with Wylde on *Guitar World’s* cover. Dario also released two instrumental solo albums through Shrapnel Records before assembling Dark Chapel in 2024 with Brody DeRozie, Mike Gunn, and Luis Silva.
The album’s first single, “Glass Heart,” combines gritty vocals and searing riffs, while “Hollow Smile” explores internal battles with thrash-inspired rhythms. Other tracks like “Corpse Flower” evoke gothic imagery, and “Dead Weight” delivers emotional blues. “All That Remains” pays tribute to a lost friend, and “Bullet In Our Chamber” channels Bukowski’s idea of being consumed by passion. Dark Chapel's debut captivates with raw emotion and dynamic storytelling.
